Prepare yourself for the next pandemic Blog
One thing that the COVID-19 crisis has taught me is that there is a significant population of people within the United States U.S., who do not practice retaining significant amounts of essential products in their households. Products such as hand sanitizers, water, food, toilet paper, and paper towels are in one’s best interest to keep a healthy stockpile of in the future. With the U.S. on the brink of a financial recession, consumers should consider that they should try to support small businesses and help companies retain their workforce as much as possible. According to the Small Business Administration (SBA) Small businesses make up: 99.7 percent of U.S. employer firms, 64 percent of net new private-sector jobs, 49.2 percent of private-sector employment, 42.9 percent of private-sector payroll, 46 percent of private-sector output, 43 percent of high-tech employment, 98 percent of firms exporting goods, and 33 percent of exporting value. So, when consumers purchase products from local small business, Amazon, and Shopify drop shippers and more, they are truly contributing to the stabilization of the U.S. economy. As of May 21, 2020, the U.S. unemployment rate has spiked to up almost 30%. The national U.S. stay at home orders have contributed to these unprecedented times due to the COVID-19 crisis. Remember that who one spends one’s dollars and cents with matters, more than consumers will ever know. Every single dollar spent on small businesses, not only helps preserve the well-being of those small businesses but helps preserves the U.S. economy.
