AVOID THE SUNKEN PLACE BLOG
2020 has been an interesting, and yet unfortunate year thus far because of the COVID-19 virus. There are millions of people that have been laid off temporarily, or in some cases permanently. If one remembers the movie GET OUT where a young African-American visits his white girlfriend's parents for the weekend, where his simmering uneasiness about their reception of him eventually reaches a boiling point. There is one scene in particular when the young man girlfriend mother, who is a therapist utilized a therapeutic tactic to control the state of one's mind. The controlled therapeutic state consisted of a single sound and that sound would paralyze one who was placed in the hypnotized therapeutic state. With all of that being said, medical experts fear the rise drug uses, alcohol, and depression levels. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) mental health challenges, suicidal rates, and substance abuse have elevated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And when it all boils down to it, the COVID-19 pandemic and economy has placed a lot of people in the sunken place. A good portion of the population across the world is falling deep down like the sunken place scene in the GET OUT movie. People are falling down mentally, physically, and spiritually to their own sunken place, and the question is how will they get out of it?
Now I am not a medical professional by any means. However, in my personal opinion here are a few ways to avoid the sunken place in the COVID-19 economy.
- Long walks, hikes, and long jogs outside.
- Long bicycle rides, and rollerblading.
- More outdoor activities such as fishing, and hunting
- Golfing, kayaking, and sailing.
- Outside physical fitness classes, COVID-19 temperature testing gyms.
- Drive-in movies, home gatherings.
- Picnics, farmers markets.
- Outdoor restaurant patios.
One thing is for sure that it is everyone's responsibility to try their best, to take care of their physical and mental health as much as possible. It’s definitely in one's best interest to not only sit in front of your television, and your cell phone for five to ten hours daily.
With only three months left in 2020, most people optimism resides in 2021. Meaning that most people goals and aspirations are growing in hopes that there is a COVID-19 vaccine by at least February 2021. The new norm in the United States and in other parts of the world will continue to be more, of the utilization of social media, Zoom, Skype, and WebEx meetings. However, we must continue to support one another, especially small businesses within local communities. With that being said, please visit Larry's Anything Goes LLC. online store for all outdoor, and indoor activities.
